Singing · Medicine · Psychoanalysis
A world-first initiative bringing together vocal art, medical science, and psychoanalysis. CALYP's annual conference opens the book of the human voice.
A WORLD FIRST
Opening the Book of the Voice
CALYP organized, as a world premiere, the International Conference on the Voice: Singing - Medicine - Psychoanalysis. The speakers are specialists from medicine, the artistic world, and academia.
The holistic approach is the spearhead of CALYP's action. This consortium gathers singing, medicine, psychoanalysis, psychology, and academics for one purpose: Opening the Book of the Voice.
The conference is aimed at singers, people who use their voice extensively or suffer from a pathology, doctors, medical and paramedical staff, students, and researchers.

SPEAKERS
Conference Faculty
A multidisciplinary team of experts from medicine, vocal coaching, and psychoanalysis.
Dr. Jean Charmoille
Psychiatrist, Psychoanalyst & Psychologist
After a classical secondary education, Jean Charmoille became a psychologist and then a specialist in psychiatry. That was before two events shattered this path and propelled him onto another stage. First, a psychoanalysis that opened the way to a new form of knowledge, then the enigma of Don Juan's cry in the finale of Mozart's Don Giovanni, which struck him one day like that of the silence in Munch's Scream. Jean Charmoille now practises as a psychoanalyst and sings every day.
Adeline Toniutti
Vocal Coach & Singer
Adeline Toniutti is a voice expert. She serves as a vocal coach in the continuing education programme for singers at the Paris Opera. She organises many masterclasses with renowned artistic personalities: Bruno Berberes, casting director for The Voice, and Mariella Devia, queen of bel canto. A lyric singer until 2014, Adeline Toniutti suffered an accident at the height of her career that burned her respiratory tract and severely damaged her vocal cords. She founded CALYP to support singers and people suffering from vocal cord pathologies. Since 2021, she has been the lead singer of a Freddie Mercury tribute show, touring in New York City and across Europe.

Dr. Bruno Coulombeau
Phoniatrist
After obtaining his medical degree, he pursued singing studies and a specialisation in phoniatrics at the Lyon Faculty of Medicine in parallel. Passionate about the voice, alongside his private phoniatric practice he continues teaching and singing activities. He is regularly invited to present and share his experience in clinical phoniatrics, particularly concerning the spoken and sung voice. Among others, he has contributed to several publications including the proceedings of the symposium "Means of investigation and pedagogy of the singing voice" with Guy Cornut. Also a partner of Dr Romain Perouse, phonosurgeon, he organises a biennial phonosurgery course in Venissieux.
